Chloe Brewster: It's been a bit of a while since you last starred in a vampire film. How did it feel for you to return to your 'vampire' roots?
Kristen Stewart: Quite natural, actually! You know, I've been so grateful for the opportunities that Twilight has given me; undoubtedly, I would never have starred in the likes of Clouds of Sils Maria [for which she won a Best Supporting Actress Cesar Award]! Yet, from the very first day on set, I just settled back into what you may call the 'vampire way of life', though it has been quite different to what I was used to during my Twilight years.

CB: In what ways do you think The Secret is in the Fangs contrasts to the likes of Twilight?
KS: [laughs] Well, I doubt that nine year old girls will be queuing outside the cinema to see TSIITF unless their parents want to scare them! But I think that TSIITF explores the darker realms of vampire nature - such as the blood and gore - instead of the 'I-can-catch-a-falling-apple-at-the-speed-of-light' mentality that many mainstream films seem to be going for these days.
CB: So, are you saying that parents should be locking their kids up as soon as TSIITF is released?
KS: [giggles] Perhaps parents shouldn't go that far! But I think it's about time that more films for adults - and older teenagers - are released because, without that greater depth of gore or horror, I feel that we are not paying justice to the horror genre. In my eyes, horror cannot be made more innocent or less violent because it is what it is.
CB: Do you think that TSIITF pays tribute to the classic horror film genre?
KS: To be honest, I don't really know what you would define as a 'classic horror film' because, while we were making it, none of us were thinking about emulating past films. Yet, if you're referring to the suspense and mystery that defined 'classic horror films', then yes, I think that TSIITF pays tribute to those features without really being aware of it!
CB: How did you feel about shooting scenes in the Lincolnshire town of Grantham? It must have surely been a bit different to Hollywood!
KS: I really loved filming TSIITF in Grantham, which taught me so much about British culture and customs! In fact, shooting over in England made such an awesome change from working in America because I grew up watching many British horror films, which kind of inspired me to become an actress.
CB: In your opinion, what do you think makes TSIITF stand out among fellow horror films?
KS: It's quite simplistic because it is mostly just set in Grantham and follows my character on a mysterious journey (which the producer has told me to keep quiet about!), while it does not shy away from the traditional symbols of a horror film. Well, if you fancy seeing some good old-fashioned gore, I'm proud to say that TSIITF offers plenty of it!
CB: Would you be tempted to return to Grantham to shoot a sequel?
KS: [grins] That depends on whether the people of Grantham will want to welcome back a pale-faced, hungry-eyed, darkly-clothed creature once they have seen the film!
The Secret is in the Fangs is released on 18th November in local cinemas
